THE CUSTODY JOURNEY

01
Discreet, unbranded collection from your residence, hotel, or archive. White-glove handling; direct transport to our private facility.

02
Your private collection is treated in your own dedicated & sealed thermal chamber.
The deep-freeze 2-stage cycle manages humidity and airflow to reliably eliminate insects, larvae, and eggs without toxic chemicals or fabric stress. How the 14-day cycle works.

03
Treated possessions are returned to your property or collection with a Certificate of Completion for household, hotel or insurance records. This records treatment of the collected items; it does not certify the property as pest-free or repair existing damage. What custody standards cover.
01
We care for exceptional private wardrobes and textile collections, including cashmere, merino wool, vicuña, bespoke tailoring, evening wear, silks and furs. Our discreet service is designed for private homeowners, personal stylists, estate managers and family offices seeking professional protection for valuable garments.
Clothes moth larvae can feed unnoticed within seasonal dressing rooms and private wardrobes, putting delicate and irreplaceable pieces at risk. Our securely managed, off-site deep-freeze treatment targets the moth life cycle in suitable garments without applying insecticides or chemical fumigants. Trims, linings, embellishments and previous repairs are considered before treatment.
02
Antique Persian carpets, Aubusson tapestries, historic textiles and museum specimens require specialist and sensitive handling. Our discreet service is designed for collectors, art advisers, curators, galleries and historic houses responsible for preserving culturally or financially valuable pieces.
Carpet beetles and museum beetles, including species of Anthrenus, damage natural fibres, woven pile and archival backings.
Our controlled freeze treatment uses temperature rather than applied solvents or chemical fumigants. Delicate dyes, organic warps, natural fibres and the construction of each piece are considered when assessing suitability.
03
Fine antique furniture, decorative panelling, musical instruments and architectural woodwork require treatment suited to both their size, construction and significance.
Our specialist service supports private estates, antique dealers, restorers and heritage trusts, with each piece individually assessed before treatment.
Wood-boring beetle larvae (woodworm) can be concealed deep within timber, causing progressive damage.
Where suitable, our extended, carefully controlled freeze-treatment cycle allows extremely low temperatures to penetrate the object thoroughly, targeting the infestation without applying liquid insecticides or chemical fumigants. Finishes, repairs and mixed materials are assessed before treatment.
04
We provide discreet treatment for high-end mattresses, upholstered headboards, soft furnishings and room textiles. The service is designed for hotel general managers, private members’ clubs and serviced residences where guest confidence, operational continuity and confidentiality are paramount.
Bed bug infestations require immediate action and complete discretion.
Our controlled, pesticide-free freeze treatment provides enough capacity for multiple rooms, targeting bed bugs within suitable removable furnishings without fumes or chemical residues, allowing treated items to be returned ready for prompt reuse as part of a coordinated room-treatment plan.
We reserve an independent, locked chamber exclusively for your items. Keeping consignments separate helps manage security and the risk of cross-contamination between properties.
Our service is fully insured. Ask our team to confirm the applicable cover, limits and conditions in writing before collection. For higher-value inventories and museum collections, discuss any additional cover needed before booking. See Protecting Valuables and our Terms of Custody.

The Moth Treatment Company draws on decades of temperature-control experience. It is a trading brand of Wessex Refrigeration Hire, backed by refrigeration expertise and a large portfolio of freezer assets, and delivered by our specialist team.

Brilliant service from The Moth Treatment Company team, based in Battersea. They collected our sofa, armchair, rug and several bags of clothes from our Kensington home for a moth freeze treatment, kept us updated, and returned everything as planned. Polite, careful and professional and as far as we can see, the moth problem has completely gone. Highly recommend.

A huge thank you to our team for picking up and returning a van full of our belongings (and carrying them up and down 2 flights of stairs). We needed a non toxic way to get rid of moths after an infestation and freezing was the easiest way as most of our things either couldn't be washed above 60° or wouldn't fit in the washing machine! I can't recommend Wessex enough for helping us with this problem, they made sure that sentimental photo albums and art could be treated without any damage. They were just amazing and a pleasure to work with.

The guys collected and dropped off the contents I was looking to freeze promptly - keeping items safe in their units for over a week. Couldn't recommend more if you're looking to zap some moths from existence.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
True conservation takes time. The end-to-end 14-day window accounts for collection, thermal stabilisation, the deep-freeze treatment phase, and a gradual, moisture-controlled return to ambient room temperature. This gradual acclimation ensures fine fabrics and delicate furniture suffer zero condensation or fiber shock. Read the full science.
No specialist packaging is needed from your staff. We simply ask that you gather the pieces you wish to preserve into domestic bags. What happens at each stage.
For hotels and serviced residences, discreet turnarounds are essential. We schedule collections during low-profile service windows using unmarked vehicles, and supply a Certificate of Completion recording treatment of the collected items. Return to guest use should fit the coordinated room-treatment plan.
Our commercial thermal chambers maintain controlled sub-zero conditions to target insect eggs, larvae and adults in suitable items. Effective treatment depends on the item, packing, temperature and exposure; suitability and treatment requirements are assessed before booking.
Treatment cannot prevent pests arriving again through an open window, on luggage or from another affected area. Our freeze treatment targets insects, larvae and eggs in suitable collected items without applying insecticides or chemical fumigants. A Certificate of Completion records that treatment; it is not a guarantee that items or the property will remain pest-free. Prevention guidance is available in The Journal.
Yes. A single consignment frequently includes seasonal cashmere wardrobes alongside an affected antique chair or Persian runner. Items are inventoried together, with suitability and any different treatment requirements assessed individually before they enter your dedicated private chamber. Discuss a mixed consignment.
Pest-control methods can include insecticide sprays, fogging and fumigation. The appropriate approach depends on the pest, the affected space and the materials involved. For valuable textiles, couture and period timber, discuss finishes, construction and previous repairs before choosing a treatment. Our service offers controlled freezing for suitable collected items without applying insecticides or chemical fumigants.
Our Cryo-Conservation Cycle uses controlled freezing and monitored sub-zero conditions to target insects, larvae and eggs within suitable collected items. The cycle includes controlled thaws and individual suitability assessment. It does not treat pests elsewhere in the property or prevent a new infestation.
